Anne Skyvington - Karrana - Friday 29th November

To be launched by Prof. Mark Onslow

A story of love, passion and the search for real fulfilment within a relationship. Set in Australia.

It’s the aftermath of the Second World War in the lush valley of Karrana, a fictional town in the north of New South Wales. Bridie O’Toole from a dairy farm is at a victory dance to celebrate the end of World War Two in the Pacific. There she meets and falls passionately in love with Will Featherstone from the opposite, well-heeled, side of the Karrana River. A pregnancy ensues and they get married. Bridie’s search for real fulfilment within the relationship takes on special urgency after an accident that shakes her to the core, and threatens the stability of her growing family.

The third persona in this narrative is that of Nature itself, permeating the novel from the beginning to the end. This novel resembles a ‘Coming of Age’ narrative from an historical perspective.
