No One Knows My Name, a bilingual collection. Poetry by Khalid al-Hilli. Translation by Raghid Nahhas. Kalimat Publications, Sydney 2019.

This is a collection of poetry by Australian/Iraqi poet Khalid al-Hilli in Arabic, published for the first time. The English translation is by Raghid Nahhas. The original Arabic and the translations are printed on facing pages. The book includes photos by Raghid Nahhas, who also designed the cover and content.

Raghid Nahhas selected poetry from the five poetry collections published by the Australian/Lebanese poet, journalist, singer and oud player Ghassan Alameddine, and from an unpublished collection. Raghid translated this selection into English and published it under the title ‘The Cities’. The book includes images of paintings by the Syrian artist Etab Hrieb. Cover and book design are by Raghid Nahhas.

Ghassan Alameddine died unexpectedly whilst on a trip to Lebanon. He did see the printed collection of the book a few weeks before he died. Ghada Daher-Elmowi, Director of the Andalus Arabic Choir, will pay a musical tribute to the late Ghassan Alameddine.
