Sandra Jobson Darroch - Garsington Revisited - Friday 11th August

To be launched by Paul Delprat

Australian biographer Sandra Jobson Darroch’s new book, Garsington Revisited, was launched in London on July 11 and will have its Australian debut on August 11 at Gleebooks.

The new book updates her original, acclaimed biography of Lady Ottoline Morrell, the flamboyant benefactor of the arts and Bloomsbury literary hostess, first published in 1976. As well as being updated, the new book tells in a series of Interludes how Sandra, an Australian unknown writer, broke into English literary circles and got to know the last living members of the Bloomsbury group, was stalked by the 7th Duke of Portland, learned of “the skeletons in Ottoline’s cupboard”, and journeyed to Texas to read 8,000 letters to Ottoline from the Who’s Who of 20th Century writers, including 2,500 letters from her most persistent lover, the philosopher Betrand Russell..
